Black History Month: Beyond Celebration to Change!

We are seven days into Black History Month. Celebrations, articles, and commemorations are aplenty. There is not lack of events, but there still persists a lack of enough CHANGE. We've read the stastistics and cited numerous examples of the ongoing struggles of and injustices against African Americans -- those of us who are decendants of slaves. We herald and uplift our ancestors who made it possible to be as far as we are. Even the injustices against black people who are not African-American has its roots in our historical experiences.

But we need more CHANGE, folks.. Radical, social transformation. Every moment in our present day lives has a black history lesson attached to it; whether we are being ignored in the check out line or burying another black child gunned down by another one. We must push beyond the celebration.

Wow, you're on point with that last paragraph. Honestly, BHM passed as quickly as it came, and nothing changed. particularly. Thanks for the insight ...
